CONTEST TO WIN MY FAVORITE BOOK !!!! Like Anyone Ever Listens To Me

You might read my blog, but you never DO what I tell you. You'd never yell "WOLVERINES!" for me or anything. I love you anyway. It annoys me that you haven't helped me end daylight savinG time or make civil unions universal for all couples, but fine. I get it. You're busy.

But, just this once, will you do me a favor. There's this blog I read called Confessions of a Book Habitue (and to be honest I don't have any freaking idea what a habitue is, but I bet it means she's a bibliophile). She asked for recommendations and I told her (like I tell everyone) to read Lost Boys by Orson Scott Card. I love love love love love love love love love love that book. Broke my poor heart into tiny little pieces, it did.

So but then SOMEONE else recommended Dragon Slippers by Jessica Day George. Honestly. HONESTLY! Dragon? Slippers? I haven't read it, but I don't have to read it to know that there is no way on God's green Earth that a book called Dragon Slippers could be anything like the powerful amazing experience Lost Boys is. I mean absolutely no disrespect nor offense to the individual(s) who recommended the other book, nor to the author; please don't get mad at me ... I am just saying, I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY enjoyed Lost Boys and maybe I am a little competitive, but if y'all would oblige me ...

Go to Confessions of a Book Habitue, on the side bar is a poll. Vote for Lost Boys. Make me happy. For freaking once in your life. Please. Pretty please.

OOHHHH, I know, I'll bribe you! I just bought two copies of Les Miserables, MY FAVORITE BOOK, one unabridged and one abridged. You go vote, leave me a comment HERE telling me you voted and your favorite book ever. Then, IF (and only if) LOST BOYS wins, I will randomly pick a winner from these comments to receive YOUR CHOICE, Les Miserables, abridged or big and fat.

HURRY GO VOTE NOW!!! (I hope I'm not too late..... HURRRYYY!Y!!)

And even though I still have yet to mail my last prize to its winner, I will be more prompt, cuz it's way easier to mail a book then a painting.

I did it. So there. I don't need a copy of Les Mis though, I just wanted you to know that I voted.

How can someone read 1-2 books a day?

I wanted to vote but the poll was closed!! I promise to read Lost Boys and blog about it if I can still win Les Mis! (It's one of my sister's favorite books) p.s.- speaking of books, my sister and I are reading "the hundred greatest books of all time"- you should join us! Like a book club, only way more gangster!

LOL. Lost Boys won-- 8 to 3.

Well it looks like I came across this post too late to vote. Sorry.

I have to say thanks for leading me to that blog though, it's pretty rare that I find anyone as totally obsessed with books as I am.

@Mambinki - It's totally possible to read 1-2 books a day if you can read really fast. She actually says 2-3 books a day, and I also noticed she mentioned books that were 200-300 pages long. A book that size would take me 2 to 2 1/2 hours to read, so I could totally do 3 in a day. Most people however do not read that fast.

I would have voted, but, alas, it was closed. you won, though!! i have read Lost Boys and really enjoyed it - never heard of Dragon Slippers, though.

If i were reading 200-300 page books, I could read 2 or 3 a day, too. I usually read quite a bit longer books in the dead of the night when the kiddos are sleeping - my only 'me' time.

I was too late too, but I think that I will have to go read Lost Boys. I've never even heard of the book before. Too bad I missed out on Les Mis though. I love the story, but have never read it. My husband loved it as a little kid. I will have to go get that one too.

Sorry, should woulda coulda friends, only Mambinki and Kim met my rigid contest guidelines in time (as Crichton always says "fair is fair.") NEXT time, I'm sure you will all sit by the computer f5ing every few seconds on the off chance that I will have a contest with a prize I may or may not ever get around to shipping.

(Sorry Megan, I tried to mail the painting last Saturday, but the box-like contraption I came up with was not up to fedex standards.)

Anyway, so, Mambinki doesn't want Les Mis (hoity toity la dee dah) ... so, Kim wins by default. If SHE doesn't want it ... hmm ... well, I'm sure 3 copies will come in handy someday. I can always use it to bribe my way to victory another day.

Actually, hold the phone, I said you have to vote and comment here AND tell me your favorite book ever. Hmm ... Hmmm ... I want to be nice and I want to be fair ... but if I have to pick, I say, be fair ... SOOO (i suck) there are no winners here today. Stay tuned, f5 often, check your google reader hourly ... no man knoweth when the next bribe, ahem, CONTEST will happen. But next time ... I will try to make it more winnable. For sure.

(Please don't hate me)

LOL.

I read freakishly fast, so yeah, I honestly sometimes read 2-3 in a day. How? Um... I read while I eat, while I watch TV... while my kids play... while my kids eat...

You get the idea.
