Are You Scared?

Ah, the price of gas, a useful tool in the fear based society we now live in. Let's boycott the gas stations for a day or just the biggest companies for a month. That oughta fix it.

The problem is no one was listening during economics class. I sure wasn't - there were much more important things to worry about than supply and demand - like if I got a part in the school musical or had money to pay for the band trip.

As it turns out, when demand is greater than supply, prices go up. Gas is a non-renewable resource, which means there is a limited amount of product and someday it will run out. Groovy places like China and India are increasing their demand. The US is always increasing its demand (it's partly my fault, my minivan only gets like 19 mpg, I know, I'm sorry). There are hybrid cars becoming more available, but again with the demand surpassing supply. If we want to pay less for gas we have to use less. We have to decrease our demand to decrease the price.

Oh, and don't you dare blame the prices on some random Sheik in Arabia, ok. American citizens own stock in the oil and gas companies and they are making bank on you. It's the whole, "why you leaving the lights on, you got stock in the electric company" joke. Sure, Sheik Yerbouti is making something, but the product is his and you want it. Plus, yeah, it's not like the millionaires in America are hourly employees.

So save money on gas by not using it. Dust off that bike. Leave the car in the garage. It solves so many problems in America: gas prices, obesity, boredom, addiction to reality TV, debt.

ADD Moment, Politics paragraph:

John McCain said he wasn't gonna raise taxes (I read his lips). Who needs to raise taxes when you can just take out a huge loan from China and let your kids pay back the debt. Stupid economic stimulus package, as if. It's George's way to try and buy the election again ... like that little tax surplus check we got 4 years ago." VOTE REPUBLICAN, we'll give you money!" Don't get me wrong, I can really use money, but this is not the way to do it. And then we went to war and now everything's SO expensive. And, surprisingly, it's Obama's religious affiliation under fire. Why, with the 1st amendment, does the media keep bringing religion to the forefront. So poof, will Hillary win?

ADD Moment, Weather Report:

I drove Greg to the train and walked Cri to school as he rode his bike. Now it is snowing. Silly weather. Perhaps it'll be sunny by noon. If the snow kills my stinky cherry blossoms off, I'll be a happy girl. Wow, those things are rank!

Now to the laundry. Oh, and Miley Cyrus' mostly necked picture ... just another example of the over-sexualization of our poor youth. Did anyone call CPA on Billy Ray, by the way? That seems abusive to me, and exploitative. Will they raid his home and put her in foster care? Oh, no, that's just what we do to people without fame, money, and power. In Texas.

Did you hear - they want to send out a FEDERAL task force into UT and AZ to root out all the polygamists we've been harboring, these many hundred years. So, is the LAW the LAW, unerring, or can CONSENTING ADULTS make alternate lifestyle choices with regards to religious worship? Seriously, the original raid - no one has been charges with a crime (to my knowledge), it was based on a FRAUDULENT tip, with no individual evidence, 416+ children were made wards of the state. Can you freakin' imagine? China should boycott the next US Olympics for crimes against it's own people.

Ok, now ... the laundry.

Nice Zappa refererence!!! :)

They did find that a lot of the teens in Texas were mothers, and married to old men, mean those old men had sex with them, which is statutory rape. So that is something very serious right there.

I have heard that they are trying to keep the kiddos with their moms, I really hope they do. All of those women and kids must be so scared right now.

Right, on the statutory rape part. That's the part all of society should oppose - minor age girls should not NOT not be married, voluntarily or otherwise if you ask me. And we should be appalled when adult males impregnate girls on a commune in Utah, Texas, or in inner city housing projects. Seems like very few are interested in protecting the innocence of young girls anywhere anymore. Until it's an election year.

However, statutory rape is not the case with all of the children, so lots of the women, even if married underage, are now legal adults have parental rights which have been grossly trampled upon.

Finally, while still somewhat sickened by the idea of polygamy (and a whole lot of things adults choose to do to each other), I have to say that, from a constitutional stand point, polygamy should probably be legal for ADULTS.

Save the children. The things we put our children through ...
