Wednesday, he walked in the door with a bag of chocolate covered strawberries and a small box of hand selected chocolate truffles. MmmmmmHe told me he's taking Thursday off.
Wednesday night, our poor 2 yr old completely forgot how to sleep. Greg stayed up with him from 1-4, I took the 4-8 shift. Neither one of us chose to be bitter or grumpy. I got Crichton off to school and and Canon and I snuggled up and dozed to Higgley Town Heroes - where Pizza Guy, the day' s hero, was heard to say, "The higher the better, nah ha ha ha."
Around 10, showers were taken, the day was restarted, officially this time. One good thing about being old married people rather than dating singles ... no need to wait until you've done all the Valentine's Day Hooha before participating in the official purpose of Valentine's Day.
For Lunch, we abandoned the children to the newly convenient grandma babysitter and he took me to a Thai restaurant, called Typhoon, but maybe not spelled that way. I had grilled steak and shrimp, he had steak ... it didn't taste that foreign, but it was very edible.
Then, off to Barnes and Noble to spend a Christmas gift card. I picked out a book by Ellen (to make me laugh) and the book Fallen Leaves, by Adeline Yen Mah, which I predict will make me cry, as the subtitle is: The Memoir of an Unwanted Chinese Daughter. And there we had Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake ... I ate the frosting rosette all by my cute fat self.
Then we traipsed over to the movie theatre, where the movie I actually wanted to see was starting in just 25 minutes and only 12 seats had been sold.
So off we went, the first movie I've been to since ... Harry Potter 5, though Greg did tell me all about I Am Legend, so I might count that, vicariously. And we went to Juno (thanks, Megan, for the recommendation). It brought up a lot of the emotions and pains I'd felt last year right around this time last year (see old blog posts for clarification). I cried several times and had no tissue and, though he may deny it, Greg got a little sniffley. Well acted, intelligently written, quirky, flawed, likable characters: time well spent. Though, sometimes, I was the only one laughing, the I'd feel silly that I was the only one laughing and I'd laugh a bit more. The writer was Diablo Cody, a stripper turned screenwriter. Maybe I should write a screenplay... (note to self, buy Writing Screenplays for Dummies)
Then off homeward - a stop at a store failed to produce Rock Band, unfortunately, so after the kids were asleep, we were stuck with Nicole Kidman and the Body Snatchers - Invasion. It was kind of monotonous and silly (oh no - I'm infected, keep running and stay awake or the body snatchers will kill my son - then poof, we have a cure and the world goes back to it's normal fighting self as all the infected recover completely with no memory that anything ever happened. Juno was way better.
Canon woke up just as Invasion got over. He and I spent a couple hours in the rocking chair, but he slept in his bed from 1:30 til 6:30 and so we both got a good long nap.
So my love receptacle has been refilled and it's Friday and I exercised and life feel good. Have a happy weekend!
